Jeanne M. Hansen, Photographer
Creating Images that Speak
Anyone can hold up a camera and take a picture. What makes a professionally trained photographer different is the ability to see a picture. By having a vast background and education in photography, I not only see images that translate into photographs it is a way of life and my career.
Having bought my first camera at ten years of age with money earned from picking strawberries in the Skagit Valley while growing up, I learned early how to relate to and express the world around me through photography. Taking this visual relationship seriously, after attending W.S.U. for a year, I then transferred to Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California. After one year at Brooks, I obtained a technical background that is still used today. My artistic drive and exposure to San Francisco led me to transferring to the San Francisco Art Institute where I completed my degree in fine art photography.
My artistic sensibilities , technical training , and life experiences shape and define my visual perception. To wait and gently pursue the emotional feeling and flow of the moment always ready to capture the personality and style of a client involving any type of event. This approach captures the unfolding beauty of light and life, be it a walk in the woods, inside the studio or the once in a lifetime event of a wedding day. I connect and relate to subjects and situations, thereby enhancing my visual interpretation and creating images that speak.
