Anyone can hold up a camera and take a picture. What makes a professionally trained photographer different is the ability to “see” a picture. By having a vast background and education in photography, I not only see images that translate into photographs it is a way of life and my career.
Having bought my first camera at ten years of age with money earned from picking strawberries in the Skagit Valley while growing up, I learned early how to relate to and express the world around me through photography. Taking this visual relationship seriously, after attending W.S.U. for a year, I then transferred to Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California. After one year at Brooks, I obtained a technical background that is still used today. My artistic drive and exposure to San Francisco led me to transferring to the San Francisco Art Institute where I completed my degree in fine art photography.
My artistic sensibilities , technical training , and life experiences shape and define my visual perception. To wait and gently pursue the emotional feeling and flow of the moment – always ready to capture the personality and style of a client involving any type of event. This approach captures the unfolding beauty of light and life, be it a walk in the woods, inside the studio or the once in a lifetime event of a wedding day. I connect and relate to subjects and situations, thereby enhancing my visual interpretation and creating images that speak.
